In case you hadn’t heard…

Today is Easter Sunday.

It’s not about the bunny.

It’s not about the eggs.

It’s not about the candy, the flowers, the food traditions or even family.

Easter is about Jesus!

Christ the Lord is RISEN! Today is about Jesus and that He is mighty to save! He is mighty to save because He is alive – risen from the dead! Hallelujah!

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!  ~ Luke 24:1-6

“Mighty to Save”

Everyone needs compassion
A love that’s never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

Savior
He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever
Author of Salvation
He rose & conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me
All my fears & failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender

Shine Your light and
Let the whole world see
We’re singing
For the glory
Of the risen King
Jesus

Snow, science and silence

It’s finally here. The end of March. The final days of a crazy-full month that I was sure would bring sickness to one of us by this time. I am happy to report that all 4 of us have weathered the month quite well, although 3 weeks of crazy followed up with a 9-hour car ride lent for one of our more “I can’t wait to get out of this car!” experiences yet!

We headed up to Oregon on Friday for a visit with my parents, which included playing in the remaining snow in the backyard the second the boys were released from their carseats.

The weather warmed up and the rain came and went. My mom and I took the boys to The Science Factory in Eugene. It was a “good effort” in terms of what they offered, but we didn’t think we would be bringing them back anytime soon. There were some interesting displays and it’s possible the boys just needed to be a bit older to really enjoy it much. It wasn’t as “hands on” as I was hoping for.

Happy 100th!

logo-normalIs the Oreo one of your favorite cookies? If so, you have a great reason to pick up a package of those chocolate snacks because that scrumptious cookie turns 100 years old today!

While I do love Oreo’s, I love Grandma Clara even more. And guess what?

TODAY is HER 100th birthday too!

Hubs and I would love to be with her on this special day. While we aren’t able to celebrate with her, she’s getting a sweet little party in her honor from her friends and caretakers.

Grandma Clara is an amazing woman and continues to inspire me. She is a blessing to us.

Happy 100th, Grandma Clara!

My crazy calendar

SuperMom

It’s the 5th of March. Already. Nearly the 1st week is down and I’ve still got the February page on our desk calendar to remove.

The calendar I’m using in my attempt to stay on top of life continues to evolve. I’ve gone from using pen to using pencil as things keep shifting. Meals planned, days at the park, days with friends. All continuously shifting.

Undoubtedly this is the busiest month my little family and I have had for quite some time. I would say we are busier than even during those crazy holiday weeks.

Here’s the rundown from March 1st to March 31st:

  • 14 appointments that I and/or one of my children have to be at
  • 2 days that I’m out of town
  • 4 days that Hubs is out of town
  • 4 days that we’re ALL out of town

To add to the mix, D is starting a new therapy called Eurythmy this month (that’s 3 of the 14 appointments we have scheduled). He’ll be going once a week and I’m quite anxious to learn more about it and see how it will benefit D over time.

Signs of change

The windows are open.

The t-shirts are being worn more frequently.

The birds have been chattering since the early morning.

The sun is shining brightly and it’s a warm 70 degrees this afternoon.

The blog template has been updated – again – to reflect the warmth outside.

The calendar may say March 4th, but the forecast this week is definitely calling for Spring.
